As a few of you may or may not have known, Kate was recently rushed into hospital with severe stomach cramps. These seemed to be worrying when I phoned the midwife as she told us to phone an ambulance and get her rushed into the hospital asap!

Unfortunately I could not go with Kate when she was rushed into hospital because of Chloé and Ryan, some one had to stay and look after them!

I went to go and see Kate later that day, and she was still having pains. The doctors didnt seem to know what was causing it or why. Over the 4 days that she was in hospital, the doctors just pumped her full of antibiotics and saline ( which is just salt and water in a drip ).

Unfortunately for Kate, the doctors and nurses couldnt seem to work a needle and syringe, and therefor Kate has been left really bruised and in a lot of pain as you could probably imagine from the phto below.

Kates Arm

Her dinners wernt much either. I mean how stupid can the hospital be? Good question. Let me answer. Well they served her with, jacket potato, mash potato, and new potato and veg! 3 different typs of potato and veg! seriously? take a look below.

Kates Arm

Luckily for us, their incompetence stopped there, or does it? Well, they finally managed to figure out what was causing Kate all of the pain, it was Group B Strep. Well aparrently they should of given her some antibiotics when she as in labour, which I stressed to them about, because we know that she had it. Aparrently they say, that the antibiotics that they would of given her during labour wouldnt of done much, but then why not give them to her and then increase the dosage once the baby was born? Only God know!

Well, im a complete and utter idiot! I was messing about with the settings and stuff in Call of Duty 4, and I accidently deleted my profile not knowning it would reset my rank!

I had just got to level 55 and got the golden deagle, and oh my god, I piss about with some settings, and I ended up deleting my profile and resetting my level back to 1!

Ahh well, it will give me a chance to see how quick I can get back up through the ranks again!

Im off to see the doctor in a bit about the vasectomy, and see if I can get it done under a general anaesthetic, because I dont really want to feel 2 needles going into my scrotum, and god forbid that the doctor shall miss and hit one of my bollocks! I would DIE!

Thursday 5th Jun 2008

I saw the doctor yesterday and he told me that I can have the vasectomy, which is cool. But, aparrently I have an inflamation of the epididimis, and until that has cleared up he wont be doing any operation on my balls! I went to the hospital back in December 2006 because I had a lump in my testicles, it turns out that the hospital is crap, and so is my doctor, but this new doctor that Im seeing has identified the lump as an inflamation of the epididimis.

Your probably wondering what exactly the epididimis is, well so was I, so I looked it up. Well basically, its an inflamation! lol. Heres what I found. Below is a picture of a testicle.

  1. Epididymis
  2. Head of epididymis
  3. Lobules of epididymis
  4. Body of epididymis
  5. Tail of epididymis
  6. Duct of epididymis
  7. Deferent duct (ductus deferens or vas deferens)

Well basically thats whats inflamed, so he has put me on a course of antibiotics to hopefully clear it up and then in two weeks I can proceed to get the operation done.

If you look at the picture below, you can clearly see the vas deferens, which is what will be cut to make me sterile and no longer be able to have any more children.

Well hopefully, all goes well with the antibiotics and I can have the operation.

Valve finally got the go ahead from Infinity Ward to release the update over the steam network. The update has been available for 3 days to non steam users ( people who bought the game at a shop on dvd ), which is a huge piss take in their part to be honest.

This debacle has sturred up a few unhappy customers complaining at the steam forums.

It turns out that the problem wasnt due to valve not releasing the update over the steam network, it was that Activision was taking the piss and not giving valve the go ahead for release. Below is taken from a post from one of the employees from valve!

We are still waiting final sign off from Activision QA on the 1.6 patch which we hope to get very soon. As soon as we have it we will release the patch, we know everyone is anxious.

I have finally got around to setting up my BT Vision in my bedroom, which is cool, so now I can watch TV in bed. Some of it works off of the internet and some works off of the digital Freeview service.

You have to subscribe to certain packages to be able to access certain content. For example I have subscribed to the "replay" service, this allows me to view content from 4OD ( Channel 4 On Demand ) and BBC from previous days, for example I can watch yesterdays Eastenders if I really wanted to ( lol like I would ).

I have also subscribed to the "TV" package, which lets me have access to new and old stuff thats been on tv, stuff like the complete series of Red Dwarf, Lost and Scrubs. Its cool.

There is a down side to it though, if for example, Im downloading something on my laptop, and I want to watch an "On Demand" program, its streamed via the internet, and if Im downloading it will probably not play properly on the TV, also it might lag me while playing multiplayer games online. Im not sure yet, because I havent played a game in a few days.

In addition to setting up my BT Vision, I have just aquired a nice 42" TV from Kates sister, Kacy. She says that they are getting rid of it because of lack of space lol. I know its not stolen or anything because her and her husband are loaded so thats cool. They just make me laugh, that they can just afford to get rid of a 42" tv thats taking up too much room!

Now I have the nw TV, I have had to move my living room around, and to be honest it looks a lot nicer, and it gives us a lot more room. Although the two seater sofa, which I sit on, is at a dodgy angle to the tv, its all good. Moving the living room around has enabled us to move the stereo out of the cupboard and onto the old TV stand, which sits behind the two seater sofa. It sounds much better and much more bassier ( if thats a word! lol ).

My website and all of the websites that I host have been moved to a new webserver located in England now, which is cool, so accessing and browsing should be a hell of a lot faster for everyone. If you see any errors or if the site becomes unuseable at any point please leave a message in the comments or email me through the contact page, thanks.

Kate told me that she wants to go back to work yesterday, which is cool. Dont get me wrong, I want to go back too, but I want to go back to the "right" job. One where Im going to be in a good working enviroment where I can learn and grow professionally and academically, but finding that job is proving extreamly hard until I get my CCNA qualification.

So yea, I have made up Kates CV and she will be looking for a job soon she says. It would be nice to be honest, just me and the kids. I dont really get much bonding time with them, because Kate likes to take over a bit when it comes to them. When Kate was in hospital, I spent my entire day with them, it was nice, we bonded, so I think that Kate working, will give me and the kids the time we need to bond more.

I have finally got around to adding the pictures of Lee Evans and some random pictures of Chloé and one of my living room as it is now.

Sunday 15th Jun 2008

Well, today is fathers day and obviously Im a father, but I didnt want Kate to get me a card or something else like a mug or what ever with best dad in the world or something written on it. I would rather have something Im going to like and use more, so I decided to pay out the $17 for Sin Episodes Emergence.

Sin Episodes Emergence is pretty cool, its based on the hl2 source engine, and uses steam. I get an average FPS of around 250 on it, which is not bad. So far it seems like a good game, I have only played around 30 minutes of it in total, so I cant give it a review thats either her nor there, so dont go and waste your pennies just yet, and let m get through it.

Unfortunately, Sin Episodes Emergence is a "Episodic" game like Half Life 2 where you have episode 1 and episode 2 and so on and to my dissapointment, Ritual Entertainment, who made the game, have been bought by another company and will not produce any more episodes of the game.

I will be putting together a little video of the game so people can see what its like, some of the fight scenes and what not will be displayed. Keep an eye out for the video!

Monday 16th Jun 2008

I was looking up some videos of Call Of Duty 4 this afternoon because I was bored, but then I stumbled upon this video and an amazing story to go with it. For the full story click here. In short a guy visited Chernobyl and took some pictures from the areas that the makers of COD4 have used in their single and multiplayer maps. The story the guy tells is amazing, you should definately give it a read, as its well worth it.

I have also got around to compiling the video about SiN Episodes Emergence, its about 5:30 long and it shows some fighting scenes in the game. I thinks its pretty cool, even if you dont! Its in wide screen because thats the resolution that I play in now with my new monitor. The video was recorded with fraps at 1280 x 720px and reduced in size and encoded in Xvid at 626 x 320px and then encoded in flash, so I am able to display it on my website. It might take a while to play, because the flash file is over 20mb!

Well, BT are officially shyte. They have implimented a speed restriction on my broadband line. This is the first time they have done this to me, in the whole year or so we have been with them. Aparrently I have downloaded too much, I dont see how because Im on their BT Option 3 plan. Its supposed to be "unlimited", but then they have their fair useage policy!

Ok, fair enough they have a fair usage, but I have just checked it and it says "Unlimited", so this means unlimited right? who knows?

Im just talking to a BT sales rep at the moment online, via their online chat. It would be nice to see what he says about all of this. I have pasted the chat log between us below;

Chat Information
We are now routing you to one of our chat team...

Chat InformationYou are now connected with Chris

Chris: Hi, my name is Chris. I'm here to assist you with your BT Total Broadband order.

David: i dont want to order anything, i want to complain about my download speed restriction that i have been placed on when im on option 3!!!

Chris: You should call us on 0800 800 150 to get this complaint lodged or the situation rectified David

David: i have just got off of the phone with some one from BT and they cant do it.. they just give me a number for the fair useage policy! when if your fair useage policy it says.... its "unlimited" as you can see... http://bt.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bt.cfg/php/enduser/cci/bt_adp.php?p_faqid=10495&cat_lvl1=346&p_cv=1.346&p_cats=346

Chris: It is unlimited, but if you download an amount which is considered in excess of fair use e.g so much that you restrict other customers sharing your exchange then the fair usage policy states that we reserve the right to decrease your connection speed for the period of that month that you violated the fair usage

David: ok, but i have download only about 14gb this month or so.. not including BT vision on demand! where as in other months i have downloaded close to 200gb! why are they only limiting me now?

Chris: So we never cut you off

Chris: I'm not sure if we retroactively limit you David, but I don't have access to your personal information to confirm why you've been throttled we're just here for advice on the broadband options which is why I recommended that you call

David: and if i call then some one would be able to sort this out and take off the restrictions then?

Chris: Possibly but I wouldn't want to misinform you and just say yes David, I think you should verify why you have been restricted if you haven't exceeded a fair use this month and then see what can be done abou tit

Chris: About it sorry

David: ok well thanks for ur help m8 ;) whats the number again?

Chris: The number is 0800 800 150 David, I hope you get everything sorted soon they should be able to highlight what is going on

David: ok thanks for your help. im just on the phone to that number now

Chris: Enjoy the rest of your evening David

David: and you .. bye

Chris: Thank you for chatting with me today. BT values your feedback. Please click the "Close" button at top right to answer a few questions about your experience with us today.

As predicted, they are no help at all. I am now currently on the phone to the number provided by Chris, and am talkng to a pakie! God I hate cheap ass companies who cant afford to employ people in their own country and have to resort to employing cheap help in India!

Oh my god this guy is funny as hell, hes maintaining the fact that he cant do anything to take the restrictions off and the department that deals with the restrictions is closed, it closed at 5. So why the hell did my restrictions suddenly come on at around 7.30? Is he telling me that some one stayed behind to specifically put them on? BT is full of shit. I have just asked to speak to his manager. I want to hear what he has to say! This should be a laugh.

Well after finishing the convosation with the managers manager, I still havent resolved this problem, BUT, he has given me a number phone and a pin to use tomorrow morning to sort it all out. All I have to say now is that they better sort it out or I will be changing my ISP!

Tuesday 17th Jun 2008

BT have once yet again decided to disappointment me. After speaking to the blokey last night, he said he would get my speed restriction sorted out this morning when I phone a number and input a pin.

Little did I know, that this was complete ballshit. Upon phoning the number given to me, I get a message telling me to have my pin ready, I do and it asks me to press number 1 to proceed, again, I do. I then get a stupid message telling me that I need to phone their tech support number. It seems that the guy who I spoke to last night, had put no comments on my account nor has any one since March 2008!

So, OK, I go back to the other number I was given, and phone the "usage policy" people so they can remove my restriction from my line. I was told that it would get removed upon phoning. Again disappointment, they tell me that I have consistantly downloaded "too" much in the past few months and they have put me onto the "heavy restriction" this ment that during peak hours ( this being between 6pm and 12 midnight ) my maximum download speed would be 50Kb/s.

Hearing this I was not amused, but aparrently they have a point. On average over the past 4 months I have downloaded 140GB per month. Now, yes I download a lot, but seriously can it be near that figure? This month alone, I have downloaded 66GB, so they say.

Im guessing that watching BT Visions OnDemand service also contributes to that figure, seeing as it works using the internet to stream its OnDemand content.

I will be taking steps to assure that I download no more than around 60GB per month in the future, so I dont get restricted any more. I have to tell my nighbours this too as they also use my internet, so for the moment, it will be nice not downloading films. It will give me and Kate a chance to go out more, seeing more films at the cinema instead of just downloading them.

The Team Fortress 2 "Meet The Sniper" video has been released. Its pretty funny. Totally didnt expect this from valve. Take a look below.

Friday 27th Jun 2008

Kates decided that she wants to go back to work, so I was like yea ok. Most Dads would have a problem with that as they would be the ones that have to stay at home looking after the children. Me on the other hand, I dont, it gives me more time to bond with the kids, than it does when Kates around.

Kate went for a job interview on Saturday, they phoned her up on the Sunday and told her that shes got the job. Yesterday, today and Monday, she is in training and starts work properly on the tuesday. She will be working from 9.30am til 1.30pm and 10am to 7pm on Saturdays.

Its all good really, although shes working 28 hours a week now, at least she finishes at decent times and there is still a lot of the day left for us to all spend some time together, plus it should mean that Kate isnt always in town spending money, but then again, this would surprise me if she still does!

Its really annoyed me how quickly Kate has managed to get a job. I have been trying to get a job for ages now, and no one seems to want to take me on. I have no idea why to be honest. Ahh well I will just have to keep trying.

Friday 27th Jun 2008

I have just bought the rest of the Call Of Duty Series off of steam. I thought to myself, I might aswell, because I have Call Of Duty 4, so why not the rest?

Unfortunately though, there were some Call Of Duty games that were not published on the PC platform, such as Call Of Duty: Finest Hour, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: Roads to Victory, ah well, I have the rest!

In total now, the addition of these games, put my steam games up to 38!

Saturday 28th Jun 2008

There seems to be another patch out for CoD 4, this time its only a fix for several things, such as;

  • Fixed an exploit that allowed players to access certain console dvars during multi-player matches
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when a Chinatown Sabotage match would go into over-time
  • Fixed a bug where the MP icons (Bomb, Defend, Capture, etc) were always showing up as English regardless of the install language

Luckily Steam seem to be ahead of things this time. After switching on my pc, and loading steam up, it immediately said that CoD 4 was updating. Although not much was happening!

It seems that steam is too busy to handle my request to update CoD 4. I cant even launch the game to play single player through steam! looks like I will have to play by directly executing the .exe file !

If your having the same problem as me, you can find it in the same rough location as mine;

  • E:\steam\steamapps\common\call of duty 4

Once your in that folder simply click on iw3mp.exe and it will launch the game, and you should be able to play no problem, until the servers have all been updated to 1.7!

EDIT :

I forgot to add the download link for the 1.7 update. Click here.

Saturday 28th Jun 2008

There is a new gaming controller thingy out called Novint Falcon, according to reviews valve will be implimenting this into their source engine, and allowing people to use it with Half-Life 2 and such. It seems real cool, and I would really love to give this a go. Check out the video below to see what all the hype is about.

Monday 30th Jun 2008

What a wonderful day, I went to the toilet this morning and tried to flush it. The systen was empty, I was like "what the fuk?". So I tried the taps and it was dribbling out, so I called the plumber to come and sort the problem out. He came with in 20 minutes of placing the call and what he turned up, the water seems to be all working fine, he went down back to his van to get his paper work. While he was down there I ran the taps to see what was going on and it seemed fine for about 2 minutes. It then started to dribble out, he told me that a new part was needed for my boiler as it was not creating the pressure needed to get the water through the pipes. Ok fair enough

So at least it was partially coming out, enough to fill the toilet up and maybe run a small bath. Later today, at around 1pm I try and run a bath and I was faced with this...

How the hell was I expected to have any sort of shower or bath with that coming out of my tap? I have just phoned the plumber again, and am awaiting a phone call back, to see whats going to happen, as the part that is needed is aparrently going to take 2 - 3 days to get here, and with no hot water and 2 children, 1 which is 5 weeks old, its a bit of a piss take!
