Its been quite a long time since my last update to my blog. There hasn't been any reason why there hasn't been any updates. I think its just down to the fact that I cant be arsed to do it lol.

Erm, whats new? Well, not much, I got myself an IPod Touch. Im having loads of fun with it, but its only a stop gap until the next IPhone comes out. I am told that it might be in june or july of this year. I have got me some really cool apps on there.

The applications that are available in the app store are plentyful. There is even a few apps that tell you when paid ones become free for a short period of time, just so that you dont miss out on all of the deals!

Click the links in the descriptions for screen shots of the applications.

There are some really funny applications on the app store.

Some really useful ones too!

Do you remember the list I made of all of the people on Facebook that are a waste of my time and that I deleted, with reasons too? Well, neither do some of the people I have deleted. Aparrently one of them wants to add me again. Either its sheer stupidity or they just really didnt know they got deleted? Either way, im not going to fanny about and make that post public on facebook and link it to the person who is trying to add me!

idiot

The weather seems to be getting nicer recently, its been nice and sunny over the past 3 or 4 days, which means its a good sign that spring is just around the corner, and then soon summer, which I cant wait for! As you can see, it looks lovely outside right now.

The following people have all ( wether it be recently or in the past ) either bullied me, pissed me off, or I just really dont like them and dont want them to be apart of my life, or knowning anything about my life, so I have opted for deleting from places that contain information about me, ie Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live Messenger.

Back on the 26th December of last year I had some problems with my single player stats being completely fucked up for me on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

As all of my stats were saved on the steam cloud, I naturally proceeded to send a message to Steam asking why this had happened and what would be a possible resolution to me problem.

My message to Steam

I don’t know what the problem is exactly, I just know that my Modern Warfare 2 Single Player Stats have been reset. I thought all modern warfare stats were stored on the steam cloud?

As you can see by my achievements http://steamcommunity.com/id/DavidMiller/stats/ModernWarfare2 I have completed 44 of 50 achievements, yet if you look at the images uploaded, it shows a different story!

Please tell me how I can get my game to show my stats again. Steam seems to still recognise that I have completed these achievements as it shows it on the steam community website, but not in game.

This problem is Steams and not Infinity Wards, nor is it Activisions as the problem seems to be with the steam cloud not having the correct data?!

FYI - I have tried the solutions about renaming the .stat file with no luck. I would like to complete single player ( which includes co-op ) but in order to get the last 6 achievements I need to re-complete the rest of the game, which would be a major waste of my time!

I would also like to add that I have never played my games on a different computer therefore my stats could not have been reset in such a manor. I have not recently formatted. I don’t have any viruses. I haven’t used any form of hack / modification or any such thing EVER!

The response that I received ( almost 3 weeks later on the 7th January ), obviously shifted the blame immediately to Activision, as Steam thought they were not at fault here. Read their response below.

Steam Response

I then proceeded to contact Activision, being forced to register on their damn website, and I sent them the same message. With in 1 hour of me sending the message, I received a response!

Activisions Response

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Activision’s Technical Support. I'm sorry to hear about your problem. The Steam achievements are stored on the server. However your local files may have been corrupted or lost. There is no way we can send you files or alter your local profile on your computer.

I then sent another message to them :

My Message

hi, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. is there a way for me to delete something from my computer to enable me to download the progress data from the servers?

Response

Hi,
As far as I know, this is not possible. Steam does not store the singleplayer or save data which would contain those files.

Not satisfied with this answer I then proceeded to ask another question!

My Message

is it possible that an update to mw2 could be applied that also uploaded single player save files and such to the server? as having the complete stats and everything online would totally eradicate problems such as the one that I'm having!

Response

Hi,
Activision is a video game publisher not a developer, we do not make or patch games nor edit in-game content; that would be up to the developer. I am not sure something like this is even possible. Unfortunately you will need to re-progress through the single player game. You should still be able to access those last few achievements without having to do the rest. You might need to unlock some Spec Ops levels though.

Still not satisfied with the responses that I have received, I have then messaged Steam support back with the following message:

Message

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. I would like to point out that there have been two updates to Modern Warfare 2 since the games launch, both with no information about the updates on the steam news page, as linked by yourself there.

I have contacted Activision, and they have completely shifted the blame over to Infinity Ward, and I have yet to find a way to contact their support section. Have there been any updates to this ?

With still no resolution to this problem, I have been forced to replay the entire special ops again to complete my stats. I will even be forced to complete part of the single player so I can get the last achievement that is unattainable via special ops – Ghost - Plant the C4 in "Cliffhanger" without alerting or injuring anyone in the blizzard.

Oh what fun times lay ahead!

I have had a lovely Christmas and New Year, amazingly. Usually I get into one of "those" moods and really don't want to celebrate it at all!

It's a shame really, because I love the looks on my kids' faces when they get the toys and DVDs and other items that they have been asking for, for ages!

Luckily, Christmas and New Year were a blast. I didn't get as many photos as I wanted, but I got enough. I also got a few at New Year, which we spent with our two and our niece Marie.

Check out the photos below!

I have bought quite a few games over the Christmas period from Steam while they were having their Christmas sales.

Bio Shock

I haven't played too much of BioShock as of yet, as I cant really get into it. From what I can tell, you're on an aeroplane and something happens to make you crash. From that point on it gets really weird.

After crash landing, you survive, how I don't know?! You then manage to swim to what appears to be a tower just sticking out of the ocean and go inside. You then proceed to get into a pod that takes you deep under the ocean.

You then emerge from the pod only to kill someone! After killing them, you then randomly inject yourself with some sort of DNA changing formula, which then gives you "special abilities". I haven't got much further than that and I find the security systems in the game really annoying to say the least. So far I would rate this game a 2/5.

Cogs

I have played a few games of Cogs. Its very well made, and has a sense of humour about it. There is an option in the game that allows you to convert all of the in-game text into "lol-speak" that is funny in itself.

The puzzles are pretty much identical to a puzzle game called "Fifteen Puzzle" an old game that was invented in the US in around 1874 or something. Any how, it's a very good game and requires a lot of patience. I would rate this game 4.5/5

Crysis

From what I can gather, you are a military guy in the game, who has been assigned to a new unit who have these cool outfits that they wear. They are, I think "nanotech" suits, which help adapt your body to certain tasks. For example, you can tell it to help increase your strength, and it will. You can tell it to help you run faster, or even go invisible.

The main story of the game is based around an alien ship that was buried beneath an island and is awoken by Chinese excavators. The Chinese military get involved some how and then take over. Your then locked into a battle with the Chinese and the alien force, which has now been awoken and wants to kill everything. I would rate this game 4.5/5 simply because I have completed it several times, because I borrowed it off of a friend a while back!

Crysis Warhead

From what I can tell, Crysis Warhead is basically an extension to the first Crysis, in which you play a different character of your unit, and follow on the story. Although the story seems the same, it feels different some how, plus it feels they have tweaked the engine, because the game feels different too. Due to the differences, I will only be awarding this game a 2.5/5.

Everyday Genius: Square Logic

The only way I can describe this game is that it's based on "Sudoku". Which is a fantastically hard game if you have never played it nor ever understood the rules! I will have to upload a video of me completing a few levels in it to help illustrate the game some more than my poor description!

I would rate this game a fantastic 4.5/5!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

I haven't yet played this game.

Defence Alliance 2

I haven't played this game either!

Killing Floor

Yet another game I haven't played that I paid out for!

When I get around to making the video of me completing a few levels in Square Logic, I will let everyone know and post it on here.
